What is DealeIt is a wonderful place on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with marvelous marinas, restaurants and shops.; a first class place for boaters.

What is a dinghy It’s a small boat used for recreation or racing; it can be open with a mast and sail, or a small inflatable rubber boat. Dinghy is a noun and the plural is dinghies; the word comes from India and the Hindi term dingi; in English the - gh serves to indicate a hard g.

This fun event will include a treasure hunt with prizes, an afternoon concert from a barge anchored over the shoal at the mouth of Rockhold Creek, restaurant sponsored specials, Deale Area Historical Society open house, a parade of decorated boats with a prize for the best Maryland theme, and many more activities.

Where? Herrington Harbour Marina North and Deale, MD

Ashore: the historic village at HHN will be open to visitors, and a treasure hunt will take place from about 9:00 Am to 11:30.  Beginning at the Fire House, participants will go to about ten businesses/restaurants around Deale to collect ’treasure’.  At the conclusion, a prize basket will be awarded to a winner of the treasure hunt.

Afloat: over the shoal between Herrington Harbour North and Skippers Pier Restaurant, a barge will have a band (The Irish Pub Song Club - TIPSC) from 11:00-12:30. Visitors can gather around the barge in dinghy’s, kayaks, etc, to listen. Then a dinghy parade will go around the harbor - where the dinghys will be judged on ’the best Maryland-theme decorated dinghy.’ Following the parade - at about 1:30 Ryan Forrester (musician) will perform (from the barge) until 3:00 & during the performance a prize basket will be awarded to the best dinghy in the parade.
